SABER-SDG3
SABER-SDG3 is an international initiative aimed at strengthening global health higher education (GHHE) capacities through the joint development of a training course in Epidemiology, Infectious Diseases, and Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) affecting the region. With a regional focus on the Americas and international reach, this project seeks to enhance expertise in disease surveillance, control, and public health response.
Funded by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), this four-year project is led by the Bernhard Nocht Institute for Tropical Medicine (BNITM) and co-led by the Instituto de Medicina Tropical, Universidad Central de Venezuela, which has been accredited by tropEd. This course follows the vision of tropEd and aims to ensure that GHHE standards set by tropEd are met. The initiative is designed to foster the integration of academic and public health stakeholders and promote regional academic integration while addressing current epidemiological challenges and the complex health crises affecting the region. A key focus of the project is also to strengthen GHHE capacities at the Instituto de Medicina Tropical, Universidad Central de Venezuela, further enhancing its role as a leading institution in the region.
